Leary on
H.R.Giger,
1981 "Our primitive,
prescientific language contains few words accurate enough
to communicate the scary, awesome facts this artist Giger
reveals. Giger, you slice through my tissues into thin microscopic slides
for the world to see. Giger, you razor-shave sections of my brain and plaster them
still pulsing across your canvas. Giger, you are an alien lurking inside my body, laying your eggs
of wonder. You have wound silken threads of larval cocoon around
you and tunneled down deep into my wisdom gland. Giger, you see
more then we domesticated primates."
Surrender by Rafi'ah Death comes to me in
the night
or
any time of day,
She comes often and we journey together
into the darkness,
...
I crave her.
We meet in the caverns of the underworld
and
ride into the depths of unaliveness,
She is my guru, she brings
me wisdom,
She
brings me my life and she brings me my soul.
She convulses through every part of me
and
steals the light of hope from my heart,
She covers me with her robes of anguish
and
fills me with her lassitude,
Then she breathes the spirit out of me
and
leaves me with nothing.
But I surrender to her, I make
love to her
and
I ride her into hell,
For
I know that through union with her
my
life will be mine again,
and
I will walk again forever in the now.
Children
of Fire by Judith Wiker
Pin
curls dropping to the ground
her latest bouffant
singed to the nape
bald eyebrows
instantly
challenge
her adolescent vanity
Her body heaving through the flames
a winner at the finish line
hot ribbons breaking
cross her chest
initiating her youth by fire
Smoldering ashes play out their last breath
transforming
aromas of a warm seasoned kitchen
Black boards crackling
from a flooded rescue
broken jars
displaying
bright red candied apples
fixed center
like a cadaver¹s lifeless heart
seen alive the night before
Mothers Day of 1958
a celebration that now marks time
cigarette tattoos mapping
Formica counter tops
signals of her father¹s
flamboyant gestures
She stands upon her gravel stage
the alley where she danced weekly
garbage men clapped to feed her shine
now black puddles
surround
her shaking feet
a melted
turquoise radio
is tight to her chest
stuffed animals burnt
limp and cranky
now
her only crowd
This imprint is the first of many
to form
what is called her seed of life
the kerosene that feeds
her deepest wisdom
will always come by way of fire
Last
Supper by
Winnie Shows
We
sit facing one another
and the restaurant drops away.
I memorize your face and voice
as words fall off the menu.
I want this meal to last:
Bring the appetizers tomorrow
and
the salad next year.

Let
Me Fall Music from Cirque Du Soleil's
Quidam (hear
it).
Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dream must collide
Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won’t heed your warnings
I won’t hear them
All I ask
All I need
Let me open whichever
door I might open
Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not arise
I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains
Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won’t heed your warnings
I won’t hear
Let me fall
If I fall
There’s no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall
